Spectator & Resident Information

Please note final event information may be subject to change and will be available nearer the event date. 

 

Read on for information on race weekend timings, parking, traffic restrictions on race day and spectator vantage points.

There is lots going on in the Event Village (free entry) during the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running for both runners and spectators alike, including the Runners’ Cafe and Expo on Saturday, street food, pipe band, live music and kids’ activities on Sunday.

Sunday 29 September 2024

09.00 – 16.00 Event Village open including Expo, street food & kids activities

09.30  Start of Baxters River Ness 5K in Bught Park

09.45 5K winner expected

10.00 Start of Baxters Loch Ness Marathon

10.30 Start of Baxters River Ness 10K / Corporate Challenge

10.55 10K winner expected

Spectators

The final 4 miles through Inverness offer the best vantage points for spectators, and everyone is welcome to come to the Event Village at Bught Park to welcome home all runners and enjoy the entertainment and festival atmosphere.

Marathon start: Please note that there is no spectator or vehicle access to the marathon start due to logistical/safety reasons.

10K start: Please note dogs are not
permitted within the school grounds at the 10K start.

For safety reasons, it is not permitted to accompany runners or cycle along any of the race routes.

Parking at Event Village, Bught Park

There is NO parking available at Bught Park due to ongoing construction works. Parking is available at the following public car parks, parking charges may apply. Please consider car sharing, using public transport or walking.

  • Highland Council HQ Car Park, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX
  • Cathedral Car Park, Ness Walk, Inverness, IV3 5NN
  • Old Town Rose Street Multi- Storey, Farraline Park, Inverness, IV1 1NH
  • Eastgate Centre Multi-Storey Car Park, 11 Eastgate, Inverness IV2 3PP
  • Torvean Car Park, IV3 8JL accessed from roundabout opposite Premier Inn, Glenurquhart Road

Disabled parking is available at Highland Archive Centre car park, Bught Road IV3 5RZ although please note this is located approx. 800m from the Event Village. Please follow the signs to ‘VIP Parking’.

There is NO access or parking available at the Inverness Ice Centre, Inverness Leisure or Highland Rugby Club car parks.

Please be considerate towards local residents and businesses when parking around the Event Village. 

Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Details of temporary traffic restrictions around Inverness and Loch Ness are available below.

Please note the Infirmary Bridge will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists between 0830-1700.
